Summer School

We run weekly workshops incorporating a variety of performance skills including film & music production, design, writing, devising and dance to inspire and support groups to create dynamic performances they chose to make and tour them throughout Bristol.

Weekly sessions - When and Where?
The new term of sessions will start on Wed 23 April 08.

They will take place weekly as follows:
East (8-11yrs): Thursdays 4.15-5.30 at Barton Hill Settlement
Replay (12-14yrs): Thursdays 6.00-7.30 at The City Academy
Activate (15-18yrs): Weds 6.30-8.00 at The City Academy

We welcome new members. If you are interested in joining or finding out more, contact Jen Camillin on 377 3163 to see if spaces are available.

Each group has recently performed pieces of theatre that they have created: EAST performed The Plant Ninjas, Replay performed a series of monologues linked by movement and sound whilst Activate's mixed media piece was performed at the City Academy.

The Youth Theatre is funded by Community at Heart, Quartet Foundation and Youth Opportunities.

After the success of last year, we are going back to the Arnolfini for Summer School 2008. It will run from Tues 29 July to Sat 2 August 08.

The Summer School will be aimed at 8 - 11 year olds and 12 - 14 year olds who will work in two different groups and come together for a final performance on the Saturday. Plans are still being put together for the week but we think that this year we will start from a script and bring in different practitioners throughout the week eg dance, music and/or film.

Summer School 2007 was a great collaboration between Travelling Light and Arnolfini which we hope to make even better this year!

We will be open for applications by the end of April so bookmark this page. We will have more details about the week by then and will have a downloadable application form on the site.
